Welcome to Our Junior High Program
Our new Junior High program is designed to provide a well-rounded education that not only reinforces foundational academics but also prepares students for their future careers and roles in the community. We focus on developing critical soft skills, life skills, and a deep understanding of how their education connects to the real world. Below is an overview of what each grade level offers:
6th Grade: Building a Strong Foundation
Academics: Students will reinforce and advance their foundational knowledge in math, reading, and language arts. History and science lessons will explore their relevance in today's world.
Skills Development: This year marks the introduction of basic soft skills, critical thinking, and analytical skills in their simplest form.
Life Skills: The focus will be on self-care, basic food preparation, and understanding roles within the family and community.
Career Exploration: Students will begin to explore their interests and learn about the different career pathways available to them.
7th Grade: Expanding Knowledge and Skills
Academics: Students will advance in their foundational subjects, with history and science lessons correlating more directly with current events and innovations.
Skills Development: Soft skills, critical thinking, and analytical skills will be developed further, with a focus on practical applications.
Life Skills: Students will reinforce their understanding of basic life skills and begin to explore money management, savings options, routine responsibilities, and basic cooking skills.
Career Exploration: Continued exploration of interests and career pathways, with students beginning to narrow down their choices, including entrepreneurship.
8th Grade: Preparing for the Future
Academics: Academic studies will begin to correlate with chosen career pathways and interests. Students will start learning basic-level academics related to their potential career paths.
Skills Development: A deeper exploration of soft skills, critical thinking, and analytical skills will be undertaken, focusing on their application in future careers.
Life Skills: Students will learn about budgeting, saving, intermediate cooking skills, community care, and self and home care.
Career Exploration: Students will research local leaders in their fields of interest and create opportunities to shadow professionals, establishing early connections in their chosen career paths.
Welcome to Our High School Program
Our high school program is designed to help students transition smoothly from foundational academics to specialized career pathways. We focus on providing real-world experiences, developing critical life skills, and preparing students for success in college, careers, and beyond. Below is an overview of what each grade level offers:
9th Grade: Laying the Groundwork
Academics: Students will shift to an academic foundation that aligns with their interests and chosen career paths. They will narrow down their education paths and begin shadowing professionals in their chosen industry one day per week to gain real-world experience.
Career Exploration: Students will explore college choices and career paths for post-high school opportunities.
Skills Development: Continued emphasis on soft skills and critical thinking as they pertain to career choices.
Life Skills: Introduction to personal budgeting, advanced cooking skills, and the basics of creating and maintaining a household.
10th Grade: Deepening the Experience
Academics: All academic classes will be tailored to align with students' interests and career choices. Shadowing opportunities will increase to 2-3 days per week.
Career Exploration: Students will dive deeper into college and career opportunities within their chosen fields.
Skills Development: Advanced critical thinking and analytical skills, with students beginning to demonstrate and teach these skills to others. Mentorship with 7th graders will begin, with 10th graders serving as “expert” facilitators for junior high students.
Life Skills: Focus on intermediate budgeting, advanced cooking, and intermediate household management. Students will finalize college choices and explore internship opportunities for the second semester.
11th and 12th Grade: Preparing for Independence
Students are finalizing their academics as it pertains to their college or career choices. They will continue their mentorship with junior high students as a learning guide and facilitator. They will secure an internship and work at their location for 3-4 hours per day at least 3 days week. Critical and Analytical skills will be implemented, tested and taught on a daily basis as it relates to life and career.
With life skills, students will be able to be fully functioning on their own. They will know how to responsibly find and sustain food, clothes, shelter, and income for themselves. They will know how to utilize credit in a helpful way as well as investing to build generational wealth.
Students will begin to prepare for graduation by ensuring academic, life, and career alignment.
** ALL classes for each age group will be grounded in Project Based Learning activities.
** Live field trips and activities will be planned to facilitate learning
** Junior High and High School students will be invited to the WorldSchool travel locations
